BOOST Program
The DSAU BOOST Program provides financial assistance to our families, supporting their loved ones with Down Syndrome in various ways.
Variety of needs, including but not limited to:
- Therapies
- Medical needs
- Educational tools
- Approved recreational activities
- Other services that support the individual
Who can utilize the BOOST program?
All families who have a loved one with Down Syndrome can receive financial support from the BOOST Program. The program will provide financial support up to $500 per individual with Down Syndrome per calendar year.
However, to receive support from the BOOST Program, applicants must be enrolled in a DSAU membership.
What if our family requires support more than once in a calendar year?
We understand needs can arise multiple times in a calendar year. Our goal is to support as many families as possible throughout the year, which is why we impose a limit on the amounts a family can receive in assistance.
These limits allow for the most families possible to be served. We have other programs that may be beneficial for your family in times of need, should you find yourself needing assistance again.
It is important to note that program funds are first come first serve. Not all supports may be granted.
The amount of support available through the program will depend on the financial status of the program.
What are the guidelines for the program?
- Families may apply one time per year. At the time of their need, applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The maximum award is $500 per individual with Down Syndrome per calendar year.
- All applications must be for only one item or service, not a combination of multiple needs.
- Program funds can be used for a variety of needs, including but not limited to therapies, medical needs, educational tools, approved recreational activities, or other services that support the individual with Down syndrome. Approval will be made on a case-by-case basis by the DSAU BOOST Committee.
- All applications must include a document noting a medical diagnosis of Down Syndrome for
the individual to benefit from this program (this can include a doctor’s note, page from medical record or therapy record, MyChart screenshot, Medicaid paperwork, or similar record). - Applicants must be active members of The Down Syndrome Association of the Upstate. Membership applications and BOOST applications may be submitted on the same day.
- To be eligible for the DSAU BOOST fund, families must commit to (A) participating in fundraising, raising a minimum of $100, or (B) completing 2 hours of volunteer service with DSAU (Buddy Walk, committee support, or other DSAU events/programs). Please complete the volunteer registration in addition to the BOOST application. This can be found under the Volunteer Center on our website.
