For DSAU families, navigating the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to go it alone. IEP scholarships provide funding for expert guidance and advocacy, helping you secure the best possible educational outcomes for your child.

Who can utilize the IEP Advocate Scholarship Program?

All families who have a loved one with Down syndrome between the ages of 3 and 21 can receive support from the IEP Advocate Scholarship Program. The program will provide IEP Advocate supports up to 8 hours per child with Down Syndrome per school year. If your family has multiple children with Down Syndrome, you are to complete the application process for the scholarship for each child.

However, to receive support from the IEP Advocate Scholarship Program, applicants must be enrolled in a DSAU membership and meet the following requirements:

  • Reside in our service area for the 25-26 school year: Upstate of South Carolina. If you are unsure of whether you reside in our service area, please use our contact us page to inquire.
  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of Down syndrome.
  • Are between the ages of 3 and 21 (3k-high school).
  • Agree to complete 1 of the following 3 options by 5/31/26:
    • raise $250, or
    • volunteer 4 hours, or
    • raise $150 and volunteer 2 hours
  • All scholarship recipients will be REQUIRED to complete a survey at the end of the year about their IEP experience, in addition to the fulfilled requirements mentioned above, to be eligible for any future scholarships.
